John Dee
John Dee (Jack) has been wielding the tools of the painting trade for over 45 years. A native son of Concord, MA, Dee established his company there in 1977. He attended the School of Guitar Research and Design (GRD), a guitar-building school in South Strafford, Vermont, and also, The New England School of Art & Design, In the full spectrum of his painting, decorating and restoration work, Jack’s scrupulous attention to detail and his passion for the quality of the finished surface have been his trademarks.
In 1995, Dee’s work on a historical house in Boston captured the attention of then This Old House producer, Bruce Irving, which led to Dee’s work on their Salem project. He subsequently worked on five more TV projects, and was a consultant and contributor to This Old House Magazine over 15 years. In addition, he has written articles for This Old House Online. Producer Bruce Irving referred to John as "the Norm Abram of painting".
Jesse Dee
Jesse Dee developed a passion for visual art from an early age. As his love of drawing and painting grew, so did his skill set, and he began assisting his father, Jack, at the age of fourteen. During these years, he learned the fundamentals of the painting trade, the understanding of good craftsmanship, and the importance of attention to detail—hallmarks of John Dee & Son.
Jesse went on to advance his studies while attending Massachusetts College of Art, and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2003. He and his father have continued to work together since. Jesse’s artistic talents have broadened the scope of John Dee & Son’s capabilities and offerings.

Natural wood finishes: Refinishing, stain-matching, polyurethane and hand-rubbed finishes
Faux and decorative finishes: Wall glazing, woodgraining, distressed finishes
Artwork…creation of fun and elegant interior spaces!
Restoration & refinishing: Door and sash restoration; window weather-stripping installation; repairs to wooden architectural elements, typically utilizing combined carpentry and epoxy systems
