RALPH WALDO EMERSON HOUSE
Over many years, John Dee & Son performed interior and exterior painting and restoration work on the Ralph Waldo Emerson House in Concord, MA. The following images capture some of that transformation…
The surfaces of the body were primed with oil base primer (California Paints-Trouble Shooter), and finished with California 2010 acrylic paint. Over sixty window panes were replaced , using repurposed period (1850's) glass.

A before shot of Emerson's study... this paper was installed in 1897!
Emerson study after being refurbished with paint and paper. The ceiling was "rolled and tipped" with a flat oil base paint. This method was used so as to produce brush strokes vs. roller texture, providing for a more authentic finish. (Paint rollers were not invented until 1944).
